Hypnobirthing Workshops

Saturday, 13th October, 17th November or 26th january 2019 1.00pm – 4.00pm
EMPOWERED BIRTHING & THE POWER OF YOUR BREATH. Hypnobirthing is designed to deliver important messages to not only help mamas prepare for birth, but to feel relaxed in their pregnancy too. In this workshop you will experience guided visualisations and hypnotic and breathing techniques. Breathing is an integral part of birthing your baby, and if it is short and shallow then insufficient oxygen gets to the contracting muscles and the tense taught muscles produce pain! This is very important to understand which is why together we work on this in the workshop. Fears and anxieties are so common and very normal, we will go through techniques to acknowledge them and turn them into your biggest advantage! And let’s not forget baby! Your little one benefits from all this oxygen and relaxing too!!! Partners are welcome!

Mother Space Sessions

From 7th February 2019, 9.30am – 10.30am
Mother Space is a 60 minute gathering each week that focuses on creating space for mumma’s while also bringing them together as a community. Each week we will explore different mindfulness techniques, movement modalities such as yoga and tai chi, outings and invite guests of interest in to speak to the group. Mother Space offers support, community and education for all mothers. All mothers welcome, koha available

8 Week Yoga Course for Teenage Girls

TERM 1 2019: Dates TBA, Thursdays 4.15pm – 5.15pm
Does your teenager struggle with her self-esteem? Does she worry incessantly? Does she seem anxious even when you can’t see anything to be worried about? Anxiety is said to affect 25% of teens, and up to 30% of teenage girls, making it the most common mental issue for young women. Our teens have a lot on their plates – the pressure of doing well at school, sport and extracurricular activities; figuring out social dynamics and navigating the world of social media; hormonal and emotional changes and their effects, as well as adjusting to their role in the family as they grow into young women. Aside from the physical benefits of practising yoga (flexibility, strength, balance, body awareness), yoga can also help ease the symptoms of anxiety. Our 8-week workshop provides teenage girls a relaxing space away from the pressures of their lives where they can learn to de-stress by transferring focus and attention to the body and breath, in turn building their resilience and simultaneously releasing the physical tension and discomfort that often accompanies stress and anxiety.

Nervous System: Balance & Reset

Today more than ever we are often living in a chronic state of ‘fight or flight’ mode and it is effecting our nervous systems. When we are in constant stress or ‘survival mode’ parts of our body literally shut down so that only what is needed is kept running so we can conserve energy to literally fight or run! In this 2.5 workshop Tash will talk about the nervous system and lead you through a practice focused heavily on the breath and thoughtful movement to help you bring your nervous system into balance and enhance wellbeing. Martinborough DAY Retreat

Sunday 13th May 2018 | 12PM – 5PM Martinborough Hotel, Martinborough
This special Sunday day retreat has been designed to give participants a mini-retreat away from it all. Helen Williams will be taking the group through the Ovio Mindfulness Course and Tash Lockie will finish up with a extra long and lush Yin session. At the end of our retreat day you will know what mindfulness is, and how you can use it in your everyday life and the yin will leave you feeling all spacious and relaxed! All levels of yoga experience welcome.

Assisted Yin Workshop

Saturday, 19th May | 12.00pm – 2.00pm
Tanya will firstly help you to understand the benefits of a regular yin practice and how to fit it into your home practice. You will then be guided in the use of props for a series of common yin postures. The props will enable you to take postures deeper into your body whether in class or at home. Limited to 10 people

Pelvic Floor Workshop

Saturday, 17th March 1.00pm – 3.00pm | $40 for single workshop or $70 to attend both Assisted Yin & Pelvic Floor Workshop
This workshop will discuss the anatomy of the core and how this can contribute to pelvic floor weakness. We will work through yoga asana (postures) that are safe for you to do at home and that can help you to gently strengthen the core while doing so. You will have the opportunity to practice a breathing technique focusing on lifting and control of the pelvic floor. Limited to 10 people

Ayurveda & Restorative Yoga Workshop

Saturday, 25th November 2017 12.30pm – 3.30pm
In this afternoon workshop Kirstie Cleary will introduce you to the wisdom of Ayurveda and you’ll learn whether you are a Vata, Pita or Kapha body and mind type. Maria Kerensiana will then lead you through a 75mins Restorative Yoga class guaranteed to put you into a state of rest and relaxation. 10 people max

Moving Meditation Workshop

Saturday, 18th November 2017 7.00pm – 9.00pm
Join Tash for this powerful two hour moving meditation practice. There are only 4 ‘parts’ to the sequence, with a 5th added near the end and we will move along with a carefully selected playlist to experience different emotions and feelings through out the evening. You will likely feel a profound connection to your breathe and body through out this workshop, a great chance to find centre, let go, re-align and step into a space of calm and peace. This workshop is suitable for beginners to advanced.

So as you discover postures that encourage release through the bodies fascia lines you’ll also experience what it is to be truly present. 6 Week Prenatal Yoga Course

Wednesdays, 20th September – 25th October, 10.00am – 11.15am
Join Nicola as she gently guides you through meditations, breath work and asana practice specific to the stages of pregnancy with focus on being as physically healthy and emotionally well balanced as possible.

Restorative Yin + Mindfulness (Wellington)

Sunday, 27th August, 7.00pm – 9.00pm
This workshop gently weaves the simple, yet profound practice of Mindfulness into a Restorative Yin yoga class. The studio will be warm and lit by candle light to create an atmosphere of relaxation. The asanas will be gentler than a standard yin yoga class, with the primary focus being relaxation. While you are in the state of deep relaxation Tash will be sharing the teachings of Eckhart Tolle, from his book The Power Of Now. This workshop is for those that are interested in Eckhart Tolle’s wisdom, or enjoy or are open to a more spiritual approach to mindfulness and presence. All levels welcome!

The Yin Life

Saturday, 19th August 1.00pm – 3.00pm
Join Tanya in this two hour yin workshop. You will be introduced to two of the main meridian lines in the body, what they are and what they can mean in your body. During your practice you will be encouraged to journal the feelings that arise for you in each posture. Toward the end of the practice you will be guided to set your intentions moving into Spring and the new moon energy. You will leave feeling empowered with a deeper sense of awareness and care for your body and mind.

In this 4 Week Beginners Meditation Course we will explore simple meditation techniques that you can do anywhere, discover your comfortable seated position to ensure the body isn’t distracted and feel the real life benefits of a regular meditation practice.

Sole Yoga Workshop for Runners

Saturday, 10th June, 1.00pm – 3.00pm
Join Tanya for a two hour yoga for runners workshop before the Wellington marathon on 18th June. It doesn’t matter what event you have entered, this workshop is for you. During the two hour workshop, Tanya will guide you through a yoga flow focusing on your hips and core followed by a yin practice and visualisation in preparation for your final training week. Tanya has run up to ultra-marathon distance and is passionate about how yoga and running can go hand in hand.
